It’s hard to believe we are already moving back to the US since in some ways it feels like we just got to Munich. The past two years were full of big milestones (including officially becoming the Traveling Teufels), learning about what it’s like to live in a foreign country, and lots of new experiences along the way. Christina learned how to ski (much better) and Fred learned how to say ‘ich weiß nicht’ and ‘keine Ahnung’ among other German phrases. And as Fred likes to say, two years and three Oktoberfests later we are heading back to Philadelphia.
Our last weeks in Munich were filled with visits from friends, going for last runs to the top of Olympiaberg, and far too many visits to the Wiesn. Somehow despite many stressful hours figuring out how to finish work, all of the administration that comes with moving countries, and preparing for our travels, in the end we packed up our apartment, packed our bags for this journey, and said our goodbyes to Munich.

After two years living in Germany we are moving back to the US by way of an 80 day trip around the world. Our itinerary is more or less planned with some gaps still to be filled in but we will start our journey exploring other areas of our favorite European countries of Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy before flying to Tanzania where hiking to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro awaits. We will spend a few weeks in Africa in Tanzania, Namibia, and South Africa before flying to Southeast Asia via a two day layover in Abu Dhabi. We will visit Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia before finishing up in Japan and making it home in time for Christmas.
We thought we would use this as a way to share our journey with our family and friends until we are back together at Christmas and as a memory for ourselves to remember all the experiences we are fortunate to be able to have. Looking forward to the next 80 days!
